About the Event
An evening of song, story and banter…
Paul Murphy is a Bolton-born singer-songwriter and poet who writes songs for people who still believe the world can be bettereven when the evidence occasionally suggests otherwise.
Before stepping back into the spotlight with a guitar, Paul spent more than thirty years as an award-winning television director, with credits ranging from Doctor Who and Death in Paradise to some of Britain's best-loved comedies. Storytelling has always been at the heart of his work; these days, the stories are told in spoken word and song.
His music and poetry is thoughtful, funny, heartfelt and unmistakably human, exploring love, family, politics, the environment and the dreams we're all trying to hold on to. If you like your folk music and poetry honest, intelligent and delivered with a generous helping of northern warmth, you'll feel right at home.
