Threads Rejecting the woes of today, Threads take comfort in hauntology and the occult. Experimenting with misuse of four track tape machines, sonic qualities of hallways and DIY guitar pedals. Threads cynical but droll observations of the world around them over sparse and noisy post punk feels timely. Threads are compared to a blend of Swirlies and Country Teasers with inspired tuneful angularity and imposing doom-laden harmonics. Bassist/vocalist Kane Martin’s meandering prose about the absurdity of now finds poetry in overstimulation, and Hanley’s (yes his dad was in The Fall) percussion punctuates the turbulence. George’s guitar obscured with feedback and reverb completes the trio. Sonically threads try to emulate their namesake, the 1984 film documenting Sheffield’s nuclear demise.

Meadow Meadow is a collaboration between vocals and nylon-string guitar recordings, housed within a strange, electronic world. They incorporate elements of field recordings and synthesised textures to give the songs depth, whilst retaining the bare, exposed nature of the arrangements that inspiration was taken from. The band is made up of Peter Darlington and James Green, joined now by Maya Bovill on bass and Holly Hardy on drums. After the breakdown of their previous band, their writing together became a meditative, healing process. Sharing demos between Manchester and London, the pair developed a distinct musical palette, using creativity as a “constant source of peace and catharsis”. Themes of childhood nostalgia and the natural world are juxtaposed with a sense of loss and dystopian malaise. “Memory is strange, it connects seemingly disparate experiences together to form a storyline that you then carry with you.” Their debut album "You Are So Alive" was released last November on the Practise Music label.

Bau Cat are Abby Butler on Bass, Jim Davies on guitar and Jack Wells on drums forming in North Wales in 2023, the trio have developed a reputation for producing great songs that’ll leave an Indie retro rootsy taste in your mouth. Abby and Jim are interchanging the lead vocal and all three sing, the band sound like the last six decades rolled into one. Their unique sound and style is refreshing. The songs act as a real window into them as people and as artists, trying to find a space in-between that they can identify with.
